MABUL
Mabul is a small, idyllic island sharply divided into two opposite halves. On one side there are fancy dive resorts. Swaying coconut trees, crystal clear waters and an incredible marine life make it the cliché “paradise on earth”. The other side is a poor fishing village consisting of ramshackle stilt houses and polluted beaches. When you walk around the isle, you cannot help asking yourself which side has a “better” life: Us, the privileged tourists who work all year to have a week in a place like this or the deprived kids spending all their lives in our underdeveloped dream destinations?
