In Turkey, brands usually prefer emotional narratives for their “special days” campaigns. When Akbank, one of the major banks of
the country, came up with the Father’s Day briefing, we thought about changing
the tone of voice a bit.
Just the fact that the dads are often paying for their own gifts was a hilarious idea by itself,
so we didn’t need to add any extra layer on it. The film received over 10 million online views and took the first place on Youtube’s Ads Leaderboard in June, 2015.
Still, I can’t help but think that this spot could be something like Harvey Nichols’ “Sorry, I Spent It On Myself” campaign in better hands…
